16 November: International Day for Tolerance

The International Day for Tolerance, observed annually on November 16th, was established by the United Nations. This day was designated to emphasize the vital importance of tolerance in fostering peace, understanding, and unity among diverse cultures, religions, and communities worldwide.

The United Nations officially declared this observance in 1996, in response to the growing need for a global commitment to tolerance and the rejection of discrimination, prejudice, and violence based on race, religion, ethnicity, or any other differences. It reflects the general necessity of promoting human rights, diversity, and dialogue as fundamental values in our increasingly interconnected world.
