9 August: International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples
EPSULA recalls remarkable days and 9 August is dedicated to the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples
The first significant day we want to highlight is 9 August. This day has been the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples since 1982, when the United Nations decided to include this date in its calendar of important days. Find more HERE
One of EPSULA's objectives is to support specific indigenous communities in Ecuador and El Salvador. We want to give these communities a chance to proudly showcase their unique cultures and traditions, which are deeply connected to their ancestors. We record their stories, festivals, daily life, and customs, allowing them to represent themselves in the best possible way. These recordings not only let the indigenous people speak for themselves but also help preserve their diverse cultural heritage for future generations to appreciate. Through EPSULA, we aim to make cultural heritage more tangible and understandable. By sharing these stories and traditions, we hope to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the rich diversity within these communities and their living cultural heritage.
